Those who serve our country with military sacrifice There are many aspects of being an active duty service member that can make life stressful for those who serve It's always good for companies to work to help those who serve in the military Chase waives the annual fee on all of their personal credit cards, including the Sapphire Reserve, for active duty service members.

The Chase Sapphire Reserve Card charges an annual fee of $550 because of the excellent benefits that come with having the card. With the waiver, you can enjoy all the wonderful benefits the card offers for free! Currently, the card offers new card members a welcome bonus of 60,000 points after spending $4,000 within the first 3 months of opening your account.
It's a great deal to get the benefits of the card with the welcome bonus without the annual fee If that's not enough, I'll show you why I think Sapphire Reserve is the best card for active duty military.
Chase has waived the annual fee on all of their personal credit cards to comply with the Military Lending Act (MLA) and the Servicemembers Civil Relief Act (SCRA). To qualify for this benefit, you must be on active duty for at least 30 days If you qualify, these benefits can be easily applied to your account Please note that business cards are not eligible for this benefit
When you apply for a Chase card, it's reported that Chase will automatically match your Social Security number to the Department of Defense database. To confirm this or if you have any other questions, you can call the Chase Military Department at 1-877-469-0110. If you are overseas, you can call them and collect at 1-318-340-3308. Once they confirm your eligibility, they will provide you with a credit report for an annual fee.
Credit Card Application Rules 2022
This discount is good on credit card accounts opened after September 20, 2017. If your card is opened before that date, you can simply open another account and the benefits will be applied to that account
Travel Credit – The Chase Sapphire Reserve Card comes with a $300 annual travel credit. This credit is automatically transferred to your account when you make a purchase that is classified as travel This can include anything from airline tickets to parking garages And since you don't pay an annual fee, Chase gives you $300 for free!
Increased Value with Chase Travel Portal – With this card, it's 1.5 cents to spend your points. Points when redeemed through the Chase Travel Portal You can easily book flights, hotel rooms, rental cars, tours and more with your points through the portal. For example, you can buy a $300 airline ticket with just 20,000 Ultimate Rewards points.
PreCheck or Global Entry Fee Credit – The Sapphire Reserve Card also comes with up to a $100 fee credit on your TSA PreCheck or Global Entry application. Just pay the application fee with this card and Chase will credit your account That's right, more free money! If you check in advance, you can also use credit to pay for someone else's application I have done this for two of my children
How Do Chase Sapphire Reserve Benefits Apply To Authorized Users?
Priority Pass Membership – When you have a Sapphire Reserve Card, you also get a free membership to Priority Pass lounges. There are over 1000 airport lounges worldwide that you can access for free Additionally, you can take 2 guests with you to the lounge for free There are many airport restaurants that give you food credits as part of your membership

Chase has many cards to choose from, but I would definitely start with the Chase Sapphire Reserve card I think it has the best benefits of any card on the market However, the AMEX Platinum is another excellent card that active military members should consider I will review the benefits of both cards and choose the one that best suits your personal situation
If you like both cards, there's nothing that says you can't get both Just make sure to line them up to make sure you can earn both welcome bonuses You'll also want to remember Chase's 5/24 rule and prioritize these cards first as you add more cards to your wallet.

I have always loved the Chase Sapphire Reserve Card because it comes with so many great benefits This card is a slam dunk as the annual fee is waived for active service members When you consider the $300 annual travel credit, it's like they're paying you to get the card. The best military benefit for the Chase Sapphire Reserve Card is the $550 annual fee waiver with the Military Lending Act or MLA.
US military service members on active duty, including the Guard and Reserve, and their military spouses are eligible for a Military Loan Act fee waiver on any Chase card.
My wife (who is a citizen) and I both have Chase Sapphire Reserve cards with annual fee waivers. Getting $300 in travel credits each year and paying no annual fee is good for both of us!

Each credit card company has a different interpretation of MLA Chase MLA policy is not to charge annual fees to military service members on their personal credit cards.
Please note that Chase charges an annual fee for military service members on their business credit cards. That being said, the Chase Business Card has no annual fees regardless of MLA and offers a $500+ welcome bonus.
